About Lesley Philipps

I am a 9-year cancer survivor. I was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer when I was 36 years old. At that time my children were 4 and 6 years old. My parents virtually moved to Colorado to help me during the time, and thankfully I have incredibly supportive family and friends…who also helped me maintain a sense of humor during treatment. After a year of chemotherapies, surgeries, and lots of complications, I returned to my job as a high school English teacher. All I wanted was return to my normal world. As a friend who also underwent chemo told me, “life comes back,” and thankfully for me, it did!

I now have 2 teenaged children, a lovely husband, and a LOT of rescue animals in my home! I am back working full time in the high school where I have taught all 23 years of my career. I am excited to be a part of Cancer Champions and to help spread health, wellness, and hope to others, the same way people helped me.
