Meet Your Coaches
Meet Suzanne Ade
Suzanne is kind, caring and compassionate, and we are very fortunate that she can provide support to our members. Suzanne is the sister of one of our original Cancer Champions, Maureen Poole, and she has seen firsthand the amazing things that Cancer Champions can do. Suzanne has been a nurse since 2006 and has helped patients across a variety of fields, and now works as a Cardiac Rehab RN. She loves going to the beach, being with family and friends, and pretty much any animal she meets!
Meet Brent Burkholder
Brent is kind, compassionate, and he is a doctor - we are so lucky to have him as a Coach. Brent has worked in public health for over 30 years and in 25 countries. He has worked for the Centers for Disease Control and the World Health Organization, so you could say he knows a thing or two about the medical community. Brent is also a prostate cancer survivor and Cancer Champions member, so he is intimately familiar with the cancer journey and all the different challenges it includes.
Meet Ginni Davis
Ginni first became a participant in Cancer Champions when she herself was diagnosed with cancer. Ginni has experienced first-hand the support of the Cancer Champions community, which understands the cancer journey on a very personal basis. Being a Coach and a member of the Advancement Committee means that Ginni is one of the people that help make Cancer Champions work, and we are so grateful to have her!

Meet Gail Kennedy
Gail, a long time Davis resident, considers herself a well-being advocate believing in the power of self-care and collective care – caring for ourselves (self-care) in order to show up and care for others (collective care). Gail loves to move her body – she has practiced yoga for more than 20 years and has been spinning with Jen for over 10 years! Gail loves to hike, garden, cook and take long walks with her dog, Dixie. Gail recently retired from the public health field where she specialized in child abuse prevention and resilience building.
Meet Nancy Ledesma
Nancy is kind, caring and funny, and we are so lucky to have her as one of our amazing Coaches. Born in Mexico, Nancy moved to America at 5 years old. Nancy speaks fluent Spanish, is an incredible cook, and brings joy to every room she walks into.
Meet Erin Ochoa
Erin has seen the devastating impacts of cancer, having lost her father to the disease in 2010. She also knows the power of human strength, and how a positive attitude can help someone overcome cancer as her sister and father-in-law are both cancer survivors. Erin found her niche 26 years ago when she began her full-time teaching career at the elementary level, and eventually shifted to a substitute teacher position when she and her husband started their family. Erin takes great pleasure in fitness, gardening, animals, and cooking. She also enjoys traveling with her husband and three children, who now live in every time zone of the USA!
Meet Heather Roemer
Heather retired as a teacher and school counselor after many decades working with children and parents to become resilient, happy learners. She is an avid hiker, skier and river rafter, especially enjoying these activities with her five children, their spouses and ten grandchildren. Heather has close family experience with cancer through her mother and brother. Heather has Giant Cell Arteritis, but has turned this personal challenge into an opportunity to help others with this autoimmune disease.
Meet JoAnn Stodden
JoAnn Stodden has been involved with Cancer Champions since 2015, when she discovered the positive impacts that fitness and nutrition can have on the quality of life of those with cancer. JoAnn's sister-in-law was battling a second round of breast cancer at the time and seeking holistic care. Knowing that Cancer Champions could play an important and complementary role in treatment inspired JoAnn to become more involved with the program. JoAnn works in Yolo County as a Controller in the agricultural industry. She enjoys traveling both near and far, hiking, running, and fitness in general, and spending as much time as possible with her two adult children.
